SONG REVIEW: I Think They Know - Broadside

Sometimes you find a band that just does not miss with new releases. Broadside is one of them. After releasing their popular album Hotel Bleu in 2023, Broadside started gaining a good amount of attention on the internet. Fans were able to still get their fix of new music from them with collaborations with The Home Team while we patiently waited for a new single.

It wasn’t until last week that fans finally got a new song and an introduction to the new era of Broadside. “I Think They Know is their first release with their new record label, Thriller Records. Surpassing 100,000 streams in the first week after release is quite the milestone for the band. Their recent music has leaned heavily into the pop-punk genre while still having sprinkles of their original album intertwined. Broadside has a unique sound that is hard to replicate and is clearly catching the attention of the music community.

It’s not shocking to see Broadside signed to Thriller Records, especially since Thriller has fellow bands like The Home Team and Honey Revenge. Broadside has toured with The Home Team in the US and most recently the UK, as well as collaborated on each other’s most recent albums. Broadside has been in the pop-punk scene for a while, with one of the more popular songs being “Coffee Talk from 2015. After a few member changes and trying some different styles, they have really nailed down the sound they have now. I was lucky enough to be at the show that they first played “I Think They Know live. Two days later, it was out for the world to hear.

Personally, I’m pretty positive “I Think They Know is going to be my number one song of the year. I have streamed it an unhealthy number of times. The idea that everyone is watching and judging your every move is something we all have had to deal with. Especially if you’re in the public eye, it’s hard to push the voices in your head telling you that you aren’t good enough away. Imposter syndrome and not feeling worthy of your accomplishments is common and hard to manage. Broadside has always been very open about mental health and recognizing that we all have demons that we have to fight on the daily. I think this song is the perfect combination of an absolute banger with a deep meaning. Yeah, I want to dance to it, but if you really listen, it hits home.

Broadside is currently on tour with Silverstein and doing side shows with Real Friends throughout the tour as well. There are plenty of shows left on this run so make sure you grab your ticket and be prepared for a night of music you won’t forget. Stream “I Think They Know” on all streaming platforms and follow Broadside on all social media to stay up to date with their next release.
