Behind the Scenes at GalaxyCon: Kellan Lutz Kellan Lutz Spills on Twilight Memories and Convention Fun

Written by Antonina Schubert

Kellan Lutz might be best known to fans as the charming and brawny Emmett Cullen in the Twilight saga or as the action-ready FBI Special Agent Kenny Crosby from FBI: Most Wanted, but at GalaxyCon Columbus 2024, he was just as much a fan favorite off-screen as he is on. We caught up with the actor during the convention to talk about everything from vampire investigations to fan memories, and where he thinks Emmett is today.

While his roles as a vampire and a law enforcement agent couldn’t be more different, we had to ask the obvious: what would happen if FBI Special Agent Crosby ever had to take on the Cullen clan?

“He’d try,” Lutz laughed, “but there’s no way he’s catching them. Vampires with super speed? Emmett would just outrun him. Crosby would be like, ‘What are these guys?’ and start going down a rabbit trail. ‘I swear, they’re vampires.’”

Having worked in both film and television, Kellan shared that his approach to preparing for a role varies depending on the format. “If the movie is based on a book, you kind of have a cheat sheet,” he explained. “With TV, you're constantly adding layers to your character. You never know what’s coming next. I remember they had my character speak Mandarin in episode eight of FBI, and I was like, okay... I guess I have to learn Mandarin now!”

Kellan lit up when talking about the fans and how much has changed since the early Twilight days. “When we first started doing these, when the movies came out, we had no idea what to expect” he said. “Some of the fans were just super, super excited to meet us.”

Now, over a decade later, he's seeing a whole new generation of fans walk through the doors. “A lot of the Twi-moms had babies back then, and now those babies are teenagers and driving,” he laughed. “They’ll bring photos from 15 years ago, and I’m like, ‘Oh my God, that’s you in that photo!’”

He added that it’s also a reunion of sorts for the cast. “Peter [Facinelli], Jackson [Rathbone], Ashley [Greene], and I have been doing more of these. It’s great to hang out again,” Lutz shared. “We did five movies over eight years. Now a lot of us have kids, and it’s fun to talk about life and catch up.”

As for what Emmett Cullen might be up to these days? “He and Rosalie are probably traveling the world, maybe have a couple of kids of their own,” Lutz imagined. “They’re going on adventures, doing some Indiana Jones stuff, making the kids do treasure hunts. Just enjoying life.”

Whether he’s chasing down bad guys on TV or bringing a beloved vampire to life on the big screen, Kellan Lutz brings a genuine love for storytelling to every role. That same passion shines through when he talks to fans, shares memories, and embraces the ever-evolving journey of his career. At GalaxyCon, it’s clear that Lutz isn’t just showing up; he’s all in, grateful for the people who have supported him along the way and excited for whatever adventures come next.
