PRIDE meets elevated surfaces 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️🎉: Spotify Playlist

In a time when Pride and the LGBTQ+ community are increasingly under attack, I want to shine a light on the love, joy, and vibrancy that queer music and artists bring, not only to their own community, but to the world. From global superstars like Lady Gaga, Elton John, and Chappell Roan to rising talents like Molly Grace, these artists continue to express themselves and their identities with unapologetic light, creativity, and energy.

While this playlist is definitely biased toward artists I love and admire, I’ve tried to include a wide range of queer creatives who embody the fun, power, and spirit of Pride.

Last fall, I had the chance to attend the All Things Go Music Festival in New York. While I still hold a tiny grudge against Chappell Roan for dropping out at the last minute, the weekend was an unforgettable experience. The festival is known for highlighting and supporting LGBTQ+ and female voices. I was lucky enough to see artists like Renee Rapp, MUNA, Towa Bird, and Del Water Gap live. It was there that I truly fell in love with MUNA, the American indie pop group whose songs “I Know A Place” and “What I Want” have become two of my absolute favorites. Their music perfectly captures the upbeat, energetic vibe I aimed to reflect in this playlist, all while carrying a deeper message within the lyrics.

My hope is that listeners walk away from this playlist feeling empowered and energized, and maybe even with a few new favorite songs and artists that celebrate the message of Pride and Pride Month.
