Meet RAEGAN: The Artist Blending Pop, Theatre, and Pure Heart

The lights suddenly dim, the spotlight shining brightly onto the center of the stage. The audience waits in anticipation and watches who they believe to be the main act… not appear? A band member frantically comes up to the mic exclaiming, “I’m so so sorry everyone, our lead is unfortunately a no show… Is there anyone here who knows the songs and can fill in? Anyone?” They pick out someone from the crowd wearing what seems to be a disguise, a fuzzy robe, and silly glasses with a big nose and mustache. The person claims not to be much of a singer, but then begins by singing…

“Hi my name is RAEGAN, I’m a person…”

RAEGAN started the show in a style reminiscent of the Nickelodeon show Victorious, being funny, unexpected, and ultimately iconic, grabbing the audience’s attention immediately. She started off by singing her song titled “HI MY NAME IS” which helps to introduce herself and set the tone for the whole show. It helped to give her volume and a voice for the audience to dance and sing along. It was like watching a live Broadway play with theatrics, dialogue between songs and big red cards that were held up to help the audience interact and react to the performance. Overall it was a grand release party for her single, “LONGING & LAMENT,” which showcases a new era for RAEGAN and introducing her own sound and vibe entitled RAEGANCORE. To best describe RAEGANCORE, I would say it’s very unique, quintessential and very dramatic. (Check out the song and music video down below!)

Miami-raised, singer and songwriter, RAEGAN meshes broadway theatre and pop to create a sound never heard before in traditional music media. She attended performing arts school and at just 13 years she released her first song. By the age of 15, she was self-producing her own music which helped her delve into the sound she creates today. In 2024, RAEGAN went on tour opening for UK band Autoheart and later joining Jazmin Bean as support across the UK and Europe.

I had the pleasure of interviewing RAEGAN before the show started, and I truly can say that RAEGAN is coming in hot; all of her performances are sure to leave you wanting more. I’d like to highlight some of the moments from the interview that help to show the wonderful individual that RAEGAN is.

We begin by diving into how excited RAEGAN was for the release party at Bowery Electric and the premiere of “LONGING & LAMENT,” she exclaims “I’m so excited for tonight, tonight is more than just like a show for me, it’s like the first show for my project RAEGANCORE. So, it’s like a concert meets a musical meets weirdly enough a stand-up comedy session. I wrote the script to be like an SNL monologue…” Overall, that night and performance was truly entertaining.

We address topics such as how growing up in Miami influenced her sound, especially since she revealed that a lot of the music made there is Reggaeton, etc. She explains how, “Miami called to her.” I feel this statement is very real, when you have a feeling that you’re driven to do something, chase it and never let go of that feeling or dream. It was also revealed that hopefully RAEGAN will be doing her own headlining tour, so keep an eye out, her shows are definitely ones that you do not want to miss.

Additionally, to close the end of the interview, we discuss pride month and even as this gets released towards the end of it, I believe that we should all remember to be proud and embrace who we are. I asked RAEGAN for some words for her fans especially during pride month, “Just be yourself, no one else is going to live everyday in your shoes but you; you have to just be you.” These are words to live by, words to help tell your story. RAEGAN also mentioned that she will be attending pride, New York Pride is on June 29th. To listen to the full interview listen here:
